Ulthrane 32 (Middleday) (continued): Audrea Daleos, Eri Snow, Fern the Siegemaster, Jinxi, Juan de Fulmando, Sly Delgarro, and Yagritte Ratreaper dealt with the aftermath of an attack and fire at Balsten Arms Building, a seven-story tenement in Delctra's Cauldron Borough of Trynser City.  There was a large crowd of people, many who fled the tenement around the bottom of the stairs. Fortunately, the weather was cool, not cold, there was a gentle breeze, and no rain.

Some people were in their night clothes. One girl was standing wearing nothing but a red towel. Some people had containers of water or large cloths, some wet, and were looking for a fire to put out. A few were going upstairs checking things. Others were just standing around looking.  While Audrea and Sly were apart from the others, Juan and Fern started treating the injured while Jinxi, serious for once, called for people to help.  Audrea invited Professor Chalk and Kyrie Kelevan to her 16th birthday party the next day, then several times told people, "You don't have to get me a present. Really."

While Jinxi was making sure the followers of Sardaster who had made the attack were secured, somebody outside yelled, "Help! We need a healer! A girl fell!"  Fortunately, all the injuries other than those to Sardaster's followers were minor, and Juan and Fern went to help.  Jinxi answered a woman's plea to "distract" her crying and terrifed son and other very upset children.  The young woman had broken bones, and possible further injuries.  Another young woman identified the victim as "Mini" aka Minigallith Atakares.  A Doctor Franklin thanked Fern and Juan and took over treatment including having Minigallith transported to hospital.

Audrea said, "Master Zhing!"  She was looking at a wizened old master wearing an ornate Sung robes that dragged along the street's paving stones, his feet nowhere in evidence. Near at hand were two much younger footmen.  Juan said, "Thank you Cyrusblancio, Kiria, and Stormia! Good work, everyone!," and called on Archmage Zhing.  But Audrea said the master looked very tired, so to leave him be.

Meanwhile Fern saw and heard a man and woman able mage, both wearing uniforms identifying them as Able Mage, the third level up for enlisted personnel of Imperial Corps of Mages, who were assigned to government service.  To each other quietly, they were discussing something they couldn't stop, but planned to get rid of.

Jinxi and Fern heard Eri Snow say, "You killed them. They followed Sardaster. My master, Frederick Geise, was a believer in Sardaster. But you killed them. He was killed on New Year's Day. Why did you kill them?"  Fern said, "Well, they attacked someone, apparently wanting to kill him, and we were defending him."  Eri Snow said, "I don't understand. They must have had their reasons. I think."  She soon put her head in her hands, very confused.

Everyone heard a man yell, "The end is near! Doom and gloom, gloom and doom! You have called upon foreign weather gods and used their foreign weather spells!"  The man was tall, skinny, with tan skin, wild red-white hair and long beard. He was wearing a pair of tan shorts and sandals, and something about his neck that looked like a cross between a really skinny tabard and a very long bib, almost like a banner with a hole for his head. Both his belt buckle and the tabard-bib thing had a symbol on them than some identified as the symbol of the weather and storm god Kriegdor who was worshipped in the Empire of Trynser.  He had about half a dozen people with him, all of them poorly dressed.

Jinxi, who mistakenly identified the symbol as being part of a branch of Sardaster followers, verbally confronted the man.

Audrea, partially out of breath, talked about how she had seen people did but didn't "freak out" over it.

The group then saw Trynser City Municipal Force watch officers on horseback forcefully making their way through the crowd from towards the central plaza. Many recognized Corporal Akira Kinpatsu who was with a woman who outranked him.

Chad and Chuckie reported that Audrea had used offensive magic even though she had been recently expelled from the Shining Luck Mages' Guild and was not certified to use magic.  Sir Lyus Sleyden, Order of the Orichalcum Throne, Attorney at Law, said she was using the magic to protect innocent life, which Kyrie verified.  He said, :“There you have it. To not use her magic would have been a violation of the law. She had the choice between violating the law and saving a life, and violating the law and letting her die. She chose life. Meanwhile, these two had all the rights, and they did nothing.”  Chad and Chuckie said they had just arrived, but would not press charges.  Audrea thanked and hugged Sir Lyus, and invited him to her birthday party--and told him he didn't have to get her a present.

Audrea then learned Minigallith Atakares, her friend from Shining Luck, might have died.  Audrea fainted.  Juan said he didn't think Audrea had been in deadly combat before, and Jinxi acknowledged a feeling of shock at having gone through it--although the fool then blamed the poppet Jack.

The storm priest, later identified as Elder Brice "Red" Westhowl, continued with his followers loudly proclaiming coming doom and gloom up and down the street with responses of "Shut up we're trying to sleep here!"

Audrea explained to the literally-minded Fern that it was OK if Fern got her a birthday present, and said that Sir Lyus liked her.  Jinxi tried "pressure points" on Juan who didn't feel tickled.  The group members went to their respective homes and went to sleep.  (Citadel's Shadow II adventure 2019 06 30)

Ulthrane 33 (Sweatingday): The day started just a little cool, no rain, just a slight breeze.  During the day, Fern had school at St. Bassard's School and Home for Disadvantaged Youth, Juan had work with Master Donhai Ping, Jinxi had rehearsal for Madame Maude Lynn's Theater of Thrills, Sly had work for Madame Maude Lynn's.  By the end of their work day, the wind had increased.  Fern put on some warmer than usual clothes.

While the room at Dragon Behind reserved for Audrea Daleos' birthday had a table with room for 10, Audrea had invited significantly more; 13 people total showed up.  Server/waitress Tasha welcomed the guests, although owner Woodrick Harron said there were too many people and somebody (looking at Sly Delgarro) would have to leave.  Jinxi said that Sly had helped with the fire in the nearby tenement, including helping a woman and her cat--the mention of the cat changed Woodrick's mind, and Sly and the others were admitted.

Those who attended the birthday party were Princess Alarra Gormann, Audrea Daleos, Eliza Boulavier, Eri Snow, Fern the Siegemaster, Sister Henna Brenefar, Jinxi, Juan de Fulmando, Kyrie Kelevan, Rajzhela Carnelian, Salomon Tilki, Sly Delgarro, and Yagritte Ratreaper, 13 total.  The staff added three extra chairs to the windowless room that comfortably fit ten.  The room had two doors, one going to the main room, and one going to the kitchen.  Tasha told them supper included bread, red fish soup, fresh salad (lettuce, raisins, carrots, dressing), "and more bread." And a drink, alcohol was extra.

Some in the group noticed it was getting noticably colder, and there was what appeared to be the sound of wind.

After they ate, Tasha brought in a big cake with white icing, and people told Audrea happy birthday.  The group heard a boom, and Tasha was called into the kitchen.  Tasha returned and said, "Nothing to be alarmed about, but there's a storm coming in. Looks like a big one. But this room is perfectly safe, so enjoy!"  The booming increased.

Then everyone heard, "DONG! DONG! DONG! DONG! DONG! DONG!...."  It was the temple bell ringing out a warning.  When asked by Jinxi if he could see what was going on outside, the young man Salomon made room for Jinxi to check.  Fern also went, and tried but failed to open the front door.  A strong-looking man offered to help, struggled with and finally opened the door.  A big gust of wind slammed into the room, and the man disappeared outside.  The door then slammed on its own.  The wind howled loudly, and the temple bell continued to clang out its warning.  A woman ran to the front door calling for "Charlie," but couldn't get the door open.

Woodrick Harron tried reassuring everyone, but sounded worried.  There was noticable water coming in from under the front door.  Woodrick recommended everyone go into the small private room (where Audrea's birthday party was being held).  Over 20 people crammed in.  Some got under the heavy table, some got on top, and some sat on its ends and sides.  With a loud boom, there was a huge rush of wind and the sound of crashing water.  Some people were knocked into others.  (Citadel's Shadow II adventure 2019 06 30)
